Engagement Pictures
Engagement pictures are a great way to get to know Travis Johnson before your wedding day. It is a time to relax, have fun, and learn to work with the photographer. I always shoot engagement pictures on location (e.g. city park, river, downtown, or at special spot of your choice). A favorite place for many couples is the Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden, the Portland Rose Gardens, Pittock Mansion, or downtown Portland. There are a few good reasons to get engagement pictures: Put them in your wedding album, send them out in wedding announcements or insert into your wedding programs, submit one to the newspaper, display a large framed picture at your wedding, put some pics on your own website, or give as gifts to friends and family.
Tips for the Engagement Pictures Photo Shoot:
- Be yourself. Dress how you normally would in a casually nice outfit.
- Wear comfortable clothing that you can stand, sit, and lay on the ground in.
- Dress in solid colors, preferably earth tones (e.g. greens, browns, blues)
- Wear clothing that compliments your fiancé. Don't clash!
- Don't wear clothing that will distract from the two of you (clothes with logo's, crazy patterns, etc...)
- Black or dark clothes will make you appear "thinner", while white or light colored clothing will not.
- Don't wear lots of shiny makeup as it will make you appear oily.
- Try to avoid wearing glasses if you can. It can be challenging trying to eliminate glare at times or just wear the frames and take out the lenses.
