The barn is actually two levels and the upper level is where the ceremony took place and down below was the reception space. The owner's of the Red Barn are both photographers and it was fun to talk to them about professional wedding photography for a few moments. The bride is also the sister of my best friend from college so it was good to see some faces I knew at the wedding.

I think had some sort of experience with someone else that was like the paparazzi. I assured him that was not me, but he was really stern with what he expected. At the reception, I thought the picture above was pretty cool because the bride and groom ended up smearing cake on the best man and maid of honor.

I am a Washington Wedding Photographer and this wedding was held at the Columbia Gorge Riverside Lodge. The ceremony was in the smallest room I have ever been in. It was super tight and unfortunately it was raining outside and there was a lot of goose droppings on the grass so going out was not an option. The train goes by right outside the door and fortunately for the bride and groom it didn't happen during the ceremony, but during the reception you could hear it rumble.

Bridal Veil Lakes

Bridal Veil is one of my favorite outdoor venues to have a wedding ceremony in Oregon. Located high above the Columbia Gorge, it makes a great backdrop for getting married. There is a beautiful lake and wandering, green paths that surround the lake. The flowers and grounds are kept immaculate. There are a few canoes and often times, the bride will row across the lake to the ceremony with her father just before the ceremony begins. To date, I have photographed two weddings at Bridal Veil, but will totally jump at the chance to do it again. Some of my favorite photos that I have in my porfolio are from Bridal Veil Lakes.

To get to Bridal Veil Lakes in Oregon, take I-84 out past Troutdale to the the Bridal Veil exit. Turn right after exiting the freeway, and you will see the sign for Bridal Veil Lakes up ahead on your left. Follow the gravel road for a mile or so, climbing steeply. There are plenty of signs guiding you to the top.
